Explicitly Parallel Instruction Computing, or EPIC, is a term used by Hewlett-Packard and Intel to describe the VLIW or "wide word" concept that HP had been investigating since the 1980s, and which HP and Intel were collaborating to bring to market in the IA64 Itanium processor family.
