IRIX 6.5.20 Released

SGI has updated IRIX to version 6.5.20 which is now available for download from SGI's Supportfolio website. Improvements in this version include MP3 audio integration in the media libraries and tools, new Huffman YUV video codec (HuffYUV) for lossless real-time compression of 4:2:2 video in the range of 2:1 to 3:1, write-capable UDF filesystem format for DVD and support for the M-Audio Revolution 7.1 PCI audio card.

A complete list of changes can be found here.

Now if only I could download it, grrr. For some reason I have lost my entitlement via the dev program, I have 6.5.19.

Oh well I have emailed the dev program people, and I hope that I will be able to get it sorted out during the week.

I'm not certain that SGI has even posted the downloadable version up just yet ... it's shipping with new systems as of the 7th but that may be the only way to get it at the moment.

Uhu, i have a support contract but am unable to order the 6.5.20 CD's as of today. Maybe in the coming week. this will be possible...

Both feature and maintenance streams are on Supportfolio right now.

My issue is that I have lost access to the maintenence streams which I did have via the dev program.

Anyway I have emailed people so hopefully something should work out.
